The Last Lap

  Week 10 (20th to 24th November 2023)

In the enchanting world of children's writing, each scribble, every sentence, is a portal into the realm of untamed imagination. When  analyzing a child's writing through the 6+1 Writing Traits it offers us as teachers an overall view of their abilities and areas for growth. When nurturing these traits, we empower young writers to embark on a journey of self-discovery, where their voices resonate with authenticity, creativity, and the joy of expression. In unlocking the potential within each child, we not only develop skilled writers but also foster a lifelong love for the art of storytelling.

My experience with persuasive writing has been both enlightening and humbling. The more I delve into its intricacies, the more I appreciate its dynamic nature. It's an ongoing journey of refining the art, learning from both successes and setbacks, and embracing the ever-evolving landscape of effective communication.

As I continue to hone my skills in persuasive writing, I'm reminded that its true power lies not just in convincing others but in fostering understanding, empathy, and collaboration. It's an art that, when wielded with integrity and empathy, has the potential to shape minds, inspire change, and leave a lasting impact on the world. And so, the journey of persuasive writing continues, an odyssey of words and influence that knows no bounds.

Poem "The Author's Chair: Where Words Take Flight"

Week 7 ( 30th October- 3rd November 2023)

Poem

"The Author's Chair: Where Words Take Flight"

In the quiet of the author's lair,

There stands a chair, both old and rare,

A sacred space where dreams alight,

In the soft embrace of the author's night.

A simple seat, yet so much more,

Than just wood and fabric we adore,

For in its embrace, stories unfurl,

In the author's chair, the heart of the world.

With every creak and whispered sigh,

Imagination soars and touches the sky,

In this hallowed place where authors reside,

Words come alive, on this wondrous ride.

The author's chair, a throne of thought,

Where characters live and lessons are taught,

Ink-stained cushions, a canvas for dreams,

Where the writer's soul, in every word gleams.

The author's chair, where muses dance,

Inspiration weaves its subtle trance,

In its soft embrace, minds take flight,

And the universe expands, both day and night.

So, writers, take your place with care,

In the author's chair, your stories share,

For in this humble, unassuming seat,

The magic of words and worlds complete.

In this sacred space where authors dare,

The author's chair, a throne to bear,

Infinite possibilities take their flight,

Guided by the writer's pen, so bright.

Unlocking Your Creative Potential: The Writing Workshop Experience

Week 6 ( 23rd- 27th October 2023)

Writing is definitely an art, and like any craft, it requires continuous learning and refinement. Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting your journey, participating in a writing workshop can be a transformative experience.
In a writing workshop there's a collaborative and interactive environment where writers come together to share and critique each other's work. These workshops can take many forms, from in-person gatherings to online platforms, and may focus on various writing genres, such as fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or creative nonfiction. Mrs. Lazarus would have provided a supportive and constructive space for us as writers to receive feedback and improve our craft.
During the writing workshop it's essential to note that the feedback is constructive, focusing on the strengths and weaknesses of the piece. We were given the chance to discuss elements like plot, character development, style, and overall impact.
After the workshop, authors take the feedback they've received and use it to revise and improve their work. The revision process is where the real magic happens, as it allows writers to take their writing to the next level. The feedback given can help identify blind spots, areas for improvement, and strengths in your writing that you might not have noticed on your own.
Sharing your work and receiving constructive feedback can boost your confidence as a writer. It's a safe space to learn and grow.
I was able to see that reading and critiquing others' work can inspire and challenge you to think differently about your own writing. It's a constant source of creative inspiration. This workshops offered a sense of community and camaraderie among writers, which can be both motivating and comforting.
In conclusion I was able to take away that the writing workshop is a wonderful way to nurture your writing skills, connect with other writers, and refine your work.
